EDM
Electrospark machining (EDM) is an ideal choice for processing complex shapes, narrow gaps, deep cavities and other parts of molds. When traditional cutting tools cannot reach complex surfaces, or when the aspect ratio is particularly high, EDM shows unique advantages. Especially for some parts with high technical requirements, the success rate of machining can be significantly improved by milling electrodes and performing discharge machining.
Although the advancement of high-speed milling technology has brought certain challenges to EDM, the combination of the two has also promoted the further development of EDM technology. For example, using high-speed milling to manufacture electrodes not only reduces the number of electrodes, but also improves production efficiency and electrode accuracy, thereby further improving the accuracy of EDM.
Advanced EDM equipment can achieve mirror EDM (Ra<0.1μm) and 5μm corner clearance. Such equipment plays an important role in the processing of micro parts, such as connectors, IC molds, etc., ensuring high-precision and high-quality processing results.
World-renowned EDM equipment manufacturers include Swiss GF Machining Solutions (AgieCharmilles), Japan Makino, Japan Sodick, Japan Mitsubishi, etc. Their products have a wide range of applications and a good reputation in the field of precision mold processing.
